Vladimir Sojat, born 1964. in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Graduated on Dramatic Arts Institute in Belgrade in 1990. at Film and TV editing dept. Received „Slavko Vorkapic” award for best student of his generation. Attended postgraduate studies of filmology at the same school. Member of Association of film and TV professionals from 1988; co-founder, together with Milica Lapcevic of art cooperative Artterror in 1989; member of Doc Serbia association of documentary filmmakers from 2016.
Vladimir Sojat is author, scriptwriter and director of number of short films, documentaries and experimental films, multimedia art projects and video art. With his short films, he took part on film festivals in Paris (Centre Georges Pompidou), New York (The Kitchen), Dessau (Bauhaus), Wroclaw (WRO Media art biennale), Gothenburg film festival, Stockholm film festival, Clermont-Ferrand, Athens, London (Raindance), Moscow, San Francisco, Bergen, Cologne, Belgrade, Novi Sad (Video Medeja – Sphynx award 2002). Retrospective of his films and video art have been shown in Museum of Yugoslavian Cinematheque (2001), Museum of Contemporary Art in Novi Sad (2014) and SKC Filmforum (2005 and 2014). His films are shown on SVT2 and RTV Vojvodina. He held lectures on film at Universities of Malmo, Copenhagen and Belgrade.
Production house Fraction – film revolutionary action, Vladimir Sojat founded in 2015. Within it’s frame, he has produced a number of short documentaries for “Screen”, project of Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade, “Cabinet of Wanders”, project of Faculty of Fine Art, Belgrade. Currently the company is in production of feature documentary “Frizzle Dazzle”, supported by the Film Center of Serbia, directed by art collective Skart and documentary experiment “Diary About Plants” directed by artterror.
